About me

I`m born in the Cuban capital Havana in the district Lawton.
I grew up under poor conditions but in a lively environment of Guaracha, Rumba and Son.​
From an early age I discovered a great passion for music and dance.
After my graduation I completed an apprenticeship as an Economist, but then I decided to train as a professional dancer.
I was working as a dancer in cabarets, hotels and tourist centers as well as in television, - such as "Palmas y Cañas" and in musical performances in the theater América and Karl Marx in Havana.
When I finally settled in Switzerland in year 2000, I was able to fulfill my long-cherished wish: to study singing.
In addition to my studies, I continued to work as a dancer, animator and as a dance teacher in southern Switzerland.
​Two years later, I began organizing my own, successful event "Mercy's Cuba Party" at various venues.​

​My quest to improve skills and to find new career opportunities finally led me to Madrid in 2006.
Here I was able to perfect my vocal technique and improve and expand my repertoire. After that I presented myself as a soloist in Spain until I meet the musicians of the group "Cubanos en la Red" in spring 2007 in Madrid.
After several joint performances I was included in the group and the new formation "Mágico Tumbao". The group plays a variety of Latin rhythms, from traditional Cuban music to Salsa. In addition to the many appearances with this group in Spain, I was also successful in Miami, in the Czech Republic and in Switzerland.
Today I interprets in way Baladen, Boleros, Rumbas, Son, Guaracha, Salsa, Batchata, Merengue, Bossanova, and others as a soloist and / or with various musicians and dancing groups. Towards the end of 2012 I started the project "Mercy & Calipson" with the musicians of the group "Calipson".
